Echinococciosis-AgEchinococcosis (hydatid disease), also known as hydatid disease, is a disease caused by the infection of human body by the larvae of Echinococcus granulosus. The disease is zoonotic. Dogs are the final hosts, and sheep and cattle are intermediate hosts; humans suffer from echinococcosis because they mistakenly eat insect eggs and become intermediate hosts.
